I Made My Boy Out of Poetry

Written and Performed By Aberjhani

I made my boy out of poetry. The good sugared womb of a secret
smile from God opened just that once HALLELUJAH! opened
just that once for me. Stars of Horus smiling down over the
Greek dude’s shoulder watched my fingers squeeze through
rhymes ‘til made my boy out of poetry, spun his hair rain-forest
nappy like the lush rudeness of jazz jacking off in America’s face
carved and drumbeat his bones out of my own immaculate
mysteries out of black gold and silver moon out of golden rose
and ebony song out of oceanhot night and riverwild dawn I made
a whole noisy boy --MADE MY BOY-- out of poetry. Cut the
love straight from my stargazed heart, shaped all three of his eyes
from the mud and gospel that flowed like tongues that flowed like
tongues transformed a magician into his phallus each toe and
finger I moulded like Malcolm building himself into a master
teacher like Langston chanting a flawless psalm then I sang my
boy a giant soul OH I SANG MY SON A GIGANTIC SOUL
I slammed my chest and bled pure holy tears blew clear perfect
thunder from two wondrous nostrils and made my boy out of
poetry.
