Track 9 Between the Gold Moon's Winking
Written and Performed By Nordette Adams
My lover loved me in tongues,
laid me low with sustained notes
of deep cellos smoldering adagios
along the curves of my arched back,
and we drifted down the river of his ailments
to the moss-laden cypress dreams of his enchanted swamp.
I slept all night in his arms on a patch of solid green.
The next day trees sprang up encircling us,
gleaming trunks alabaster.
Amethyst and sapphire leaves twinkled,
blushing with daylight, and doves settled in.
He loved me in tongues again.
The next night he seized me,
brushed his lips briefly against mine.
Under cover of starlight,
between the gold moon's winking,
he revealed himself an angel among creatures
of the swamp and loved me more for
I too had secrets.
Then in
resounding hum
of mystic tongues
we
conceived
a sun.
