Wonderful New Orleans Poets

Nord's Partial Library

A small selection of some of the books in my library, but I also have fiction by Tananarive Due, Dickens, Attica Locke, Laura Lippman, Octavia Butler, George Pelecanos, Toni Morrison, David Foster Wallace, Lorrie Moore, and so on.

Today I hosted Born to the Beat, the New Orleans leg of the National Beat Poetry Festival. All but one of the 20 poets invited came and read. The one who didn’t show told me before the even that she was stuck in Mississippi.

In addition to outstanding poets, local and exceptional band The Shiz performed. We held the event at Morning Call in City Park.

Consider this mini-post a place holder. After setting up this blog last year, I’m finally getting around to writing here. This baby post marks my return to writing about books and literary events (I will write more about Born to to the Beat tomorrow.)

Bookotopia.com used to be hosted at Examiner.com, but friends suggested I publish it to my own website, which I’ve decided to do. Expect reviews of every book in my personal library, including poetry collections, novels, fiction anthologies, and short stories. I also own a number of scholarly books, writing advice books, and science books. I will review those as well, so check back periodically. Follow this blog, and please let me know you’re reading it and books.
